Petar Mitev
Peter Mitev graduated in Scenography in 1987 at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. Together with Director Vladimir Petkov and the Choreographer Tanya Sokolova, they are the founders of the Theater Company Contrapoint. Peter is a co-founder of the art group Atelie 29. His career comprises over 100 Theater performances at the Theatres in Varna, Dimitrovgrad, Kyustendil, Plovdiv, Ivan Vazov National Theater, Nikolay Binev Youth Theater, Aleko Konstantinov Satirical Theater, Sofia Theater, and Theater Vazrajdane.
He has worked along with the Theatre Directors Iossif Sarchadzhiev, Boil Banov, Georgi Mihalkov, Sabi Sabev, Boris Pankin, Leonard Capon, Stayko Murdjev, Petar Denchev, and others. His contribution to the performances When Thunder Strikes (2012) and Disney Thriller (2014), both directed by Stayko Murdjiev, got nominated for the awards IKAR in 2012 and 2014 and for Askeer in 2014. In 2021 for Orange Skin, directed by Peter Denchev, Mitev received the Theatre Award Askeer as well as the award for Scenography of the Union of the Bulgarian Artists.
Petar Mitev is the Chair of Section Scenography at the Union of Bulgarian Artists where he strives to improve the conditions enabling the recognition of creative skills and of transversal competencies of the Painter-Scenographer. Since his graduation, he has participated in all exhibitions of the Scenography Guild as well as in all exhibitions of the PQs.
