Momchil Alexiev

Momchil Alexiev graduated from La Sapienza University in Rome and the Netherlands Film Academy-NFTA. Since 2007 he directs his independent film projects and he is a scenographer of theater plays in Italy, The United Kingdom, Germany, Bulgaria, and The Netherlands. At the moment he explores the topic of The mood of the viewers in the context of immersive cinema as a PhD candidate at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. 

He is a founder of Aktifilm and since 2007 he focuses his work on finding new organic relations between performance, cinema space, and video screening. His current work furthers this process. Momchil directs short and interactive 360° movies that were selected and screened at festivals such as VR Days Europe and SIFF.

He is the founder of the first Bulgarian platform for virtual reality VR Lab BG and Sofia VR Fest, an honored lecturer at the New Bulgarian University, and a scholarship holder at the Sundance Institute.
