Petya Boyukova

Petya Boyukova is the commissioner for the Bulgarian participation at the PQ23. She is a scenographer and costume designer who works both in established theaters as well as the alternative scene. She also lectures Costume History at the department of Scenography at the National Academy of Art.

Her achievements include the Scenography and the Costume design for the performance of Amadeus by Peter Shaffer and for Glorious by Peter Quilter, directed by Stayko Murdjiev; the performance of Antigone by Jean Anouilh and The Bright Future of the Flea Market, based on the book Secondhand Time by Svetlana Alexievich , directed by Ivan Dobchev. In addition, for her work on the performances of Shopping and Fucking by Mark Ravenhill, The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds by Paul Zindel and The Happy Beckett, which is based on texts provided by the audience, all directed by Mariy Rosen. 

Boyukova is the co-founder of the interdisciplinary platform for new performance instruments Runabout projects. She has been nominated for the Bulgarian Theater Awards ASKEER in 2013 and IKAR in 2020. She has participated in national and international exhibitions and festivals. She graduated the MA Scenography and Costume Designing at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia in 2010, and currently completes her PhD research.
